Creating an SEO Masterpiece

  • Sharebar

SEO, in many ways is like creating a piece of art. For one, everybody thinks it is easy – you just need a couple of brushes and a jar of paint. But can anyone produce even a decent piece of art? SEO looks simple, but it is a multilayered ,multifaceted and complicated jigsaw puzzle which only experts can put together to reveal the true picture. Amateurs simply join different pieces together and called it a finished work. The subsequent heartache and confusion over the tepid results is a common feature of SEO landscape.

SEO is a painting

SEO is a subtle painting which is created layer by layer. The bottommost layer is the background. It is about discovery of keywords. This part is about the content and matter. It is like looking into yourself and asking the right questions. It is an immersive experience where everything you want is painted with long strokes of a large brush. It is a diffused philosophical stretch of canvas. Obviously it is the beginning of a journey where you only have a map in hand. This is perhaps the most important layer which will bind the other layers together. Unfortunately, most of us tend to skip this layer while painting the SEO landscape. As result, you find disjointed pieces of art artificially stuck together – unconvincing and amateurish.

This bottommost layer is what Google calls content. Your campaign must be based on genuine and good content- something which real people want to read. This will bind all other SEO tactics together.

The other layers of your masterpiece

Once you are finished with the background, it is time for a closer look. What are the key keywords? How much of competition is there for these keywords. These are the details which have to be filled in now. Keywords have to be inserted naturally. If your keywords are Medifast coupons and Nutrisystem discounts, you must make sure that they fall naturally into the content. This is very important.

Link building

This is a layer which needs some thinking and creativity. Finding one way links from high PR sites and reputed blogs is not always easy. You may have to generate interest in your product or service without seeming to be too pushy. Internet denizens don’t like to be pushed around. This layer of painting must therefore be a subtle piece of deft strokes

Completing the picture

The SEO picture you have created must be aesthetic as a whole. If you look at a Picasso, a Cubist painting looks like a jumble of lines put together haphazardly. But taken in its entirety, it becomes a beautiful piece of art. An ideal SEO campaign is the same – bits and pieces put together to form an aesthetic and rewarding experience.

Conclusion

Search engine optimization may look easy like painting a Picasso. But in actual fact it is much more difficult. It is an art and a science put together. Those who understand nuances of SEO will make it to the top of search results. Others may as well sell their painting at the internet crossroads forever.

    Hi Srini,

I enjoyed reading your article. Its title is: “Creating an SEO Masterpiece”, but I think your article is a masterpiece itself.

I agree that SEO is an art and science. None of us knows the Google algorithm. If I want to rank high for, say “Medifast discount code” and “Nutrisystem coupons”, I have to gather relevant backlinks, as a general rule, yet, there is more to it. As you said: “Search engine optimization may look easy like painting a Picasso. But in actual fact it is much more difficult.”
