internet world 2011Tuesday 10th May marked the first day of the Internet World trade show hosted at London’s Earls Court. Running from 10-12th of May, this three day yearly event has some noteworthy names involved such as Google, eBay, Nike, Facebook, Barclays, Dixons Retail & The Guardian. As you can see it is one of the leading digital marketing and social media events in Europe.

Internet World has 12,000 attendees per show and is mainly free for businesses and consumers to visit. This makes it extremely appealing for business get involved and take part.
There is a wealth of expertise on display and the various keynote speakers can share what they know. Large organisations such as Facebook and Cisco were on hand to let us know the future of the business along with some interesting facts about growth and the Internet as a whole.

The Olympic village in London for the 2012 Olympics will be ’30 times more connected’ than Beijing 2008 was. This was being discussed by Paul Smith, the chief executive of Cisco in the UK. This was just one of 140 education sessions available per day at the exhibition.

One of the attendees to the exhibition was Tom Hill, Network Engineer from VPS Hosting company 34SP.com. He told us that “Internet World is a great place to network with similar companies and attracts some big names. We found it very useful to view the various keynote speeches such as Cisco, Google and Facebook”.

If you missed the event and are based in the UK you can visit the eCommerce Expo next week with some of the same and similar crowd. Based in Manchester at the Old Trafford Football Stadium it will be showcase over 50 exhibiting companies and is also free to attend. There are various education programmes throughout the day from Econsultancy, WorldPay, Google mobile and channeladvisor. You can read more about it on their website.

Internet World 2012 will be back in Earls Court, London next year 24-26th April, be sure to get down there as I’m sure there will be even more big names present.
