“People don’t want to be sold to. What people do want is news and information about the things they care about.”
Larry Weber, Author of Marketing to the Social Web

Social media marketing, the process of attracting traffic and customers via social networking platforms, is rapidly becoming a preferred marketing technique. It plays a vital role in the shift toward inbound marketing strategies and, when executed correctly, can benefit almost all organizations.

Social Media Integration: The first step towards effective social media marketing should be to sync the information available. This practice, known as social media integration, seeks to deliver a consistent message across the various social platforms. It allows an organization to develop an approachable demeanor and become increasingly customer centric. Mashable’s Brian Solis considers that it’s about more than the big names in social networking. The likes of Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn should perhaps be the first port of call, but the most successful companies understand that they can reach beyond these platforms and seek alternative opportunities to make their voice heard. Strategic visibility is key to effective social media integration and ultimately to subsequent marketing efforts.

Content Comes Before Conversation: The industry is touting the benefits of “The Conversation.” Undoubtedly entering into meaningful dialogue with customers is vitally important but in order to have that conversation there first needs to be content. It’s the content that promotes the conversation in the first place. Content should focus on being engaging, fluid and relevant; giving visitors the chance to engage with the organization. Social media is the perfect medium for this. By utilizing social interaction buttons like Tweet This, Facebook Share and Google+1, you make content easily shareable and allow users to play a part in getting your message out there for new audiences. Don’t be afraid to share other content that your customers will get value from, perhaps adding some insight of your own. Those other providers will more than likely return the favor sometime.

SEO Remains a Factor: Spending time integrating a message and providing quality content doesn’t mean an end to search engine optimization efforts; quite the opposite. It’s still vital to use carefully researched keywords in content, optimize web pages and execute a link building strategy. All these efforts contribute significantly to the new rules of SEO; that content should primarily be about the user experience. Effective SEO and social media sharing acts as a strong signal to the search engines to send more people along that path. The most effective social media marketing and SEO strategies share a common goal and complement each other brilliantly.

Social media marketing represents an excellent opportunity to connect with customers and reap the benefits of direct contact and feedback from the consumer audience. It can be time-consuming but it needn’t be expensive. What’s important is that it happens.

Using Data Mining as a Traffic Magnet for Your Blog

Traffic flowing through a blog is like blood in your veins. The more traffic that circulates through will result in a healthy growing blog. If you are a blogger, you know that generating traffic is much trickier than it seems. There are a multitude of techniques and methods you can use. One of the most successful approaches bloggers use to accomplish this is through SEO.

If your content gets to the top of the list, for certain keywords, there is a greater chance of people clicking their way to your site.

There are multiple options for improving your SEO. Combining analytics and word play, you learn a lot and constantly are up to date with search trends. Based on experience, the most effective way to utilize SEO is through data mining. In this article I will explain what data mining is, but first let’s see the importance of choosing the right keywords in your on-page optimization.

How to enter the right keywords in your content and avoid spam?

Before we go into data mining, there are several points content writers must keep in mind with regards to SEO writing. A common misconception is that SEO is most effective when exact keywords are repeated frequently. While this used to be a valid point, it is no longer the best way to secure high ranking. The secret to ranking well in this area is by using a variety of keywords. Following recent Panda and Penguin updates it is becoming evident that avoiding spam totally is more important in ranking well. The more naturalyour words are tailored towards the target market, the more likely your article will gain ranking.

An example of keyword selection using my weight loss blog

In a website I promote the main keyword is “Bistro MD coupon code” which is diet offer. In the past our SEO content writers resorted to writing articles where the above exact keyword was repeated in a density of 1% or more. This did not sound natural and certainly it made the articles look like spam. Apparently, if we repeated the above keyword 5 times in an article of 500 words now this is definitely seen as spam. We will have to use similar keywords, like “promotions for Bistro MD” or “Bistro MD discounts”, etc, within context, instead of repeating the same keyword multiple times. Keeping this in mind, let us now move onto figuring just how we are going to use this knowledge to our advantage.

What doesData Mining mean?

Basically, Data Mining for SEO is the processing and analyzing of information regarding traffic provided by keywords. There are numerous tools at your disposal that can help you see keyword trends and help you analyze these for your research. Using this data, you can construct combinations of words that will best fit the searches made by your potential viewers. The idea behind Data Mining is that you use the results of your analytics to create a list of long tail keywords.

Using Data Mining to identify long tail keywords

To maximize the benefit of this process, you will have to understand the difference between regular keywords and long tail keywords. For example, if you have a website that covers weight loss, a regular keyword you can use is “weight loss diets” or perhaps “weight loss plans”. Compare this to a long tail keyword such as “weight loss diets for women over 35” and you see the difference in detail. The first batch of keywords is very broad while as the long tail keyword specifies a target of women over 35 years of age.

Increasing traffic from long-tail keywords

If your SEO is targeted to multiple long-tail, low competition keywords, there is increased chance of rating high. The results of this process can multiply traffic to your site exponentially. With several keywords combined in a simple phrase you can get yourself ranked easily on most major search engines. Imagine your results when you combine a variety of words specifically targeting different groups. The potential for a massive flow of traffic towards your site is now a reality.

Taking all this in may be overwhelming at first but rest assured it is a very effective and efficient process you can use. The best way to fully grasp the whole process is to try it yourself. A good way to try and implement this is by following the aforementioned steps. Write an article, choose a regular group of keywords; apply the data mining process to analyze the traffic generated and then use this data to create more specific long tail keywords. Over time, and as you monitor your traffic, you will see for yourself just how powerful this method can be.

About the guest author: Latasri is a passionate blogger who makes a living selling Bistro MD voucher code and Diet to Go promo code. She also likes to share her views on diets like Bistro MD and Diet to Go with fellow bloggers on several social platforms.

It is pretty well known that Windows has the time-saving capacity of remembering Wi-Fi passwords, but it is a lot more effective and easier to be able to export those saved passwords to other computers that one needs to log in to the network with. Apart from Windows itself, there are password manager software like LastPass and WirelessKeyView that help in restoring and transferring passwords, making online browsing more secure and easier.

LastPass

LastPass is a strong password management tool that makes managing passwords effortless, by using a cloud based storage decrypting the password database locally on to the system that can be accessible only by local decryption or by logging in to the LastPass website with a master password. The latest version also supports a feature to import and export Wi-Fi passwords. A LastPass user gets access to the LastPass Vault which can sync the passwords in the computers.

To enjoy this feature, a minimum of LastPass 1.90 or latest version is required.

To import Wi-Fi Passwords:
1) Click on the LastPass icon.
2) Go to the "Import from" option
3) Select the option "Wi-Fi Passwords"
4) Select the check boxes to the left of the specific networks.
5) Click on the "Import" button.

To export Wi-Fi Passwords:
1) Click on the LastPass icon
2) Go to the "Export to" option
3) Select the option "Wi-Fi Passwords"

WirelessKeyView

WirelessKeyView is another solution to manage a lot of passwords. This is free utility software by NirSoft that enables viewing all the passwords simultaneously and also exporting them to a text or an HTML file.

After downloading the software and extracting the .exe file from the .zip folder, the window displays all the passwords in the system.

Select the passwords that need to be exported.
1) Click on the "File" tab
2) Click on "Save Selected Items". This option would export the passwords in a text file.
3) To export in HTML format, Click on the "View" tab.
4) Click on "HTML Report- All Items" or "HTML Report- Selected Items" depending on whether all passwords are to be exported or selected ones. You can now view your passwords in a webpage in your web browser in the html format.

Windows

Even the default Windows provides a method of backing up Wi-Fi settings. One drawback however with this is that, you can only export one Wi-Fi network’s settings at one time.
1) Open the Control Panel
2) Click on the "Network and Internet Option"
3) Click on the "Network and Sharing Center"

To the left of the tab, click on the "Manage wireless networks" option. This will display a list of all Wi-Fi networks in your system.
1) Right-click on the specified network and click on "Properties"
2) Click on " Copy this network profile to a USB flash drive".
3) Insert a USB flash drive when Windows prompts you to do so.
4) Plug this Flash Drive into the computer where the settings are to be exported.
5) Double click on the "setupSNK.exe" file to import the saved network settings.
6) Click on the "Security" tab and check on the "Show Characters" tab to view the password.

Of all the methods of managing Wi-Fi Passwords, LastPass seems to be an ideal solution for those well acquainted with LastPass. The default feature of Windows makes it easier to transfer network settings among computers. WirelessKeyView proves handy in printing the network details as it exports the Wi-Fi Passwords to a text file or an HTML file.

Bloggers put in a lot of effort in writing original content and promoting it over the web on various platforms including the social media. Consistency in blogging and building a blog community to get large number of hits on a regular basis requires planning and successful implementation. As it takes time and effort, it is only fair that a blogger gains monetarily from the blog. Ads remain the biggest money-spinners for blogs but there are other ways too to monetize a blog wherein you need not depend on ad clicks to get paid for the work you put in. Here is how you can go about it.

1. Sell e-books that attend to the changing dynamics of your domain

Large number of hits on your blog and the presence of an active blog community bears a testimony to people’s faith in your domain expertise. Share your views on different topics and make available e-books in accordance with the kind of content that is more popular among readers. You need not change your writing style but make sure that you deal with topics that interest people. Give intriguing insights into the latest happenings. Promote these books as effective solutions that people can put to use.

2. Take up paid reviews

Paid reviews can help you gain monetarily while letting you give your take on products that have been launched in the market recently. If it is a product that you believe in and would have liked to talk about even if you were not paid for the purpose, then you can surely put forth your honest views in the review while getting paid for it at the same time.

3. Get clients for the services you render

The bloggers who are seen as a domain expert or the ones, who are admired for their skills, need not go elsewhere to promote their talent. Your blog serves as the perfect platform for the purpose. Let people know that you are open to freelance assignments or standalone projects. Recommendations are likely to pour in for you to have a lot on your platter giving you the option to choose the kind of work you prefer.

4. Use affiliate marketing

You need not hard sell the product when you take up affiliate marketing for a product. Even subtle hints at the efficacy of a product and how it worked for you can help in directing people to the website. Conversions from traffic coming through your websites pay you for your effort.

5. Refer ad networks

There are several ad networks that allow you the benefit of a commission for referring people to the network. It takes no effort from your side to recommend a network. You benefit if your recommendation works.

When it comes to monetizing a blog, people have for long considered advertisement as the only avenue for the purpose but the virtual world allows you to do more. Harness the power of your creativity to not just build your reputation as an expert in a domain but also to make money out of it.

Online world is a highly competitive world, where every webmaster does its best to outdo the competition and gain the highest rank in search results as possible. However, when it comes to competition, it is but natural to have negative tactics take over the ethical ones.

An internet marketing services company that follows all the legal and ethical instructions and still lags behind the competition. There is a need for the company to take bull by the horns, and kill the pain with the pain. This process of dealing with black hat SEO in the same way is discussed below with the help of a scenario.

Scenario:

Suppose that you are running an SEO campaign for your website, following all the ethical directions and doing all the processes by remaining in the code of conduct, as a result you have achieved a good ranking in the search result. However, soon you see the competitor superseding you. After careful analysis, you come to know that the competitor had been violating all the ethical constraints, such as:

The blog network was impossible to track

There were forum signature links in totally irrelevant spaces

The website was producing no less than 5 reviews after every few days.

Proposed Action:

After analyzing the situation, where you had been doing all the hard work, while the black hat took the lead over you, the need is for you to counter strike in the same manner. A few things you should plan are:

Firstly, to take the position back you need to supply Google with all the evidence related to the black hat tactics followed by the competitor. You can pass along this information on Google Webmaster Forums, and there it will be taken care of.

Secondly, you need to have a backup plan, as there is no set time for when Google would take action against your request. Therefore, you need to stop the competitor from causing any further damage. You can hire a hacker, and discreetly install a bug on the competitor’s website, which will start sending negative signals to Google.

Affirmative Action:

The above-mentioned actions are prone to temporariness and reliability on Google. Therefore the need is develop such a plan of action that is long lasting which once and for all breaks the bone of the competitor. This can be done in the following way:

The fastest way of getting the ranking down is by hitting the links. You have tried professional link building services for your website to achieve results, may be its time to hit the competitor who has built links the wrong way by targeting his links the wrong way. You can create a blog with a lot of spam content and similar anchor text. Submit the blog to the network, and see the way it takes the competitor down.

Secondly, the other way of bringing the competitor in to the notice of Google is by ordering hundreds of five star fake reviews of the competitor. When you publish such an amount of reviews on the internet, it automatically sends a signal to Google raising the red flag for the competitor, which ultimately breaks the strength of the competitor.

Conclusion:

In a nutshell, although the negative SEO tactics are not recommended, however, when one finds a solid proof of competitor taking the lead with black hat SEO tactics, then by following the above-mentioned tips you can outdo the competition.

If you thought that creating a portfolio website is sheer waste of time, then think again! Whether you are a web designer, writer, studio professional, gamer, developer or even a graphic designer, a portfolio website is the perfect way of promoting yourself and your work. By simply having your portfolio website designed by an expert designer or creating one on your own (in case you are a web designer), you will be able to attract potential clients and convert them into your permanent customers. A portfolio website not only assists you in showcasing your talent and work but also allows you to establish a strong online presence. So, if you are contemplating creating a portfolio website, read on to find few steps that will help you design one with ease.

1. Include a Unique and Exciting LOGO

When a visitor is on your website, the very first thing that he/she would notice about your website is the logo. Therefore, it’s always a good idea to think of an exciting logo and then put it on the top left corner of the website. This will allow the visitor/user to identify you and your brand without any difficulty. Also, it is better if you link the logo to your homepage.

2. Create an Attractive Tagline

When a visitor/user is on your website and has identified you, the very next thing, they’ll want to find out is your nature of job. It is here that you need to create a tagline, which is attractive, short and summarizes your work profile well.

3. Design Your Portfolio

With the logo and tagline in place, the very next step is to design your portfolio. Your portfolio should be unique, creative and interesting as it will allow visitors to determine whether you site is worth navigating or not. The key, therefore, is to include all your previous projects, work and assignments that have won you appreciation from your existing clients. Make sure that you include good quality images, a link to the website and projects you have worked on and which is now live. You can also highlight the skills you used to compile and complete the work and describe the project briefly. A testimonial from your past customers will undoubtedly give you an edge over your competitors.

4. Enlist Your Services

When it comes to creating a good portfolio website, you must pay special attention towards listing down your services. While a portfolio does give users an idea about the kind of work they can expect from you, inclusion of services will further allow them to discern your services from your work. In other words, include each and every service that you offer, for example, copy writing, web designing and web development etc.

5. Share Your Details

Your portfolio website is a reflection of you and your work. Therefore, it is extremely important that you have a special “About Me,” page that describes you and your background. In fact, include as many details about yourself, as possible, for it will only encourage your visitors to trust you more. You can also include your picture and mention the recognition and awards that you have received for you work. This will leave a strong impact on users. It goes without saying that you need to add your contact details in your website. Users will want to contact you after they have visited your website and seen your personal portfolio.

In a nutshell, when it comes to creating your portfolio website, focus on designing a unique, user-friendly and readable website that will boost the client’s confidence in you and your work. If possible, encourage people to follow you on social networking website such as Facebook, Twitter and Flickr among others. You will also do yourself a great favor by including a blog and “call to action” tab on each and every page of your website.

Is there anything more annoying and frustrating these days than having a slow, lagging iPhone? Just imagine if we never evolved from dial-up internet. We would not get things done nearly as fast as we do today. And now that we’ve been given a healthy dose of speed, we want more. We expect it.

Now, If you’re just downloading every app under the sun, or ignoring the update alerts that pop up, then guess what? You’re bound to run into some performance issues. There are things that you can do to ensure that your phone is running at optimal speed. Here are 3 of them:

1. Stay Up-To-Date: Look, if you’re still running an old version of any apps or games that you downloaded, then chances are good that your phone is going to struggle because of it. The companies that make these apps are constantly fixing bugs, creating new interfaces, and finding ways to make them work better. So you need to run those updates when new versions come out. If your screen starts freezing or lagging for no apparent reason, then it’s probably your iPhone’s way of telling you to update.

2. Do Some Housecleaning: In the same way that your office desk can get cluttered with too much stuff, so can your iPhone. When the papers and to-do lists start piling up, it overwhelms us and can slow down our productivity. The same can be said for your mobile device. Erase the unused apps, games, etc. that are just taking up space. The closer you are to reaching your GB and RAM limit, the more your device will lag.

3. Limit the Background Apps: If you’re running apps like Skype, Weather Bug, airfare alerts, traffic reports and more, then it’s going to have an impact on the performance of your phone. These apps continuously run in the background, even when you close the application—they are kept in a kind of sleep mode, so they can load fast the next time, and recognize alerts (such as the Ding! app from Southwest Airlines). The ability to load faster when you need them again is nice, but it does put strain on your system memory. There are ways to completely shut them down if you want to, but that’s for another blog post!

*(Bonus) Reboot Every Now and Then: This pretty much goes for all of technology. When in doubt, hit the reset button. We all need to decompress, and hit that mental “reset” button every so often, and the same goes for your iPhone. If you are having speed and performance issues, and you’re adhering to some of the things I wrote about above, then give this simple cop-out a try.

Below are some of the SEO developments that most industry players are hoping to see. Remember this is not an extensive list but an overview of the major areas of SEO development we hope to see in the coming months.
1.Bing search engine.
Although still lagging behind the mammoth that is Google search engine, Bing has been showing signs of increasing the market share that it holds. Of course, do not expect Bing to overtake Google’s 80 % share hold of the market (according to various statistical sources including Statcounter).
However, more searches are expected to be done with the Bing search engine in 2012\2013.
2.Mobile Google search.
Mobile phones (especially smart phones) have become a very important element in modern-day society. Mobile phones are the means of connecting to the internet while one is on the go.
This increased use of mobile phones to search the internet is something that you should optimize. Here are some highlights to think of:
Mobile based searches are on the increaseCompanies spending more on mobile search adsClicks-per-cents cost is reducing significantly (good thing for marketers and search engines)Europesearch ads increase as Google maintains leads over competitors in mobile phone searches.
3.Social marketing SEO changes.
The social media has become part and parcel of SEO for website. To get more traffic, there is no way you can stay out of the social networks. Below are things you can do to see better utilization of social marketing SEO.
Priorities. Decide which you are going to spend time on (facebook, twitter, youtube, pinterest, linkedin, Google+, etc)Do not let someone tell you that your social media tactic will not work. Experiment (the market is now like the wild wild west). Think outside of the box.Creativity, marketable content, active participation. These are the tactics to use in the year 2012\2013.Do not let your other marketing strategies that show positive ROI fall by the wayside. Social media are not the only way to reach the market.
4.YouTube Video SEO changes.
YouTube as a search engine? Yes, many people are using youtube as their main source of searching for information on the internet. A new service is slowly getting legs, YouTube SEO generation services.
Factors that influence ranking here include, number of views, number of comments, keywords, embeds, ratings, links, number of subscribers, etc. The list is long. The point is that the growing trend of optimizing video for SEO in the year 2012\2013 is expected to grow tremendously. (In simple words, get on the grove train or get left behind.)
The types of video that you can produce range from product launch, events, movie premiers, interviews, journalistic expose, tutorials on product use, etc. Your imagination is the limit.
5.More localized search results.
The internet is poised to be a very personal place in the year 2012\2013. General SEO tactics might not guarantee you the results that you hope for. Upon discovering your CRT value going down, despite the fact your SERP are still high, you need to seek out more personalized SEO tactics. Localized search results is another area that is expected to boom in 2012\2013.

Getting high jacked can be scary – very scary indeed. When this happens to your blog you are certain to flip and blow up. But how can your blog be high jacked?

Leeches trying to suck your blood

This is perhaps the easiest way to get high jacked. Leeches are those commenters who come visiting your blog and leave some stupid feedback. Many a times these comments are machine generated and gibberish. If you are not careful, these comments link you to some really dubious sites. You may not realize it but Google search bot certainly does and raises a red flag. ‘Hey, something is wrong with this site! It’s got some really leery friends’, it thinks. As a result your site gets blacklisted and doesn’t show up on any search result. Indeed this is the end of your blog.

To avoid this kind of end, you must protect your blog from these leeches. The best way is to avoid these fellows. This is easier said than done. Some commenters are extremely smart and disguise themselves beautifully. You must create a suitable mechanism to identify and weed out such leeches.

Viruses, your good ole’ friends

This can happen to anyone- even your blog. Viruses in the form of Trojons can quickly high jack your blog before you say hello. They can attack from blogs and websites residing on the same server as yours. You remember the Trojon horse where the Greeks sneak into the city of Troy? It’s the same ploy used by the computer Trojons.

The solution is quite easy. You must make sure that other blogs and websites residing on your server are safe and don’t carry any viruses. You must ask your administrator to scan your server every once in a while. Documents and stuff must be scanned for viruses every time they are uploaded to the server. Probably your server administrator is already doing this but it’s always good to make sure.

You are your own worst enemy

This is the worst that can happen to you- high jacking your own blog. I don’t have any statistics but I am sure many of us have done this to our blogs. How can you high jack your own blog? It’s quite simple really- by provide boring, outdated and downright irrelevant posts on your blog. When visitors come to your blog and find such stuff they start avoiding your blog. Too much pontification can lead to the death of your blog. Don’t brag, don’t copy-paste, don’t write as if you know everything and on top of all don’t preach.

Conclusion

There are many ways by which your blog can be high jacked. Once this happens you can’t do anything but watch helplessly. It’s therefore always recommended that you keep a close watch. The enemy can be both from outside as well as within. Try to give more and you shall receive in plenty.

With the introduction of social media, the online world has totally reshaped. Gone are the days when a person could use automated software and achieve higher rankings or whatever objectives of an online campaign. Now businesses and brands need to be livelier and show their human side.

Every online marketing campaign has a strategy. An internet marketing agency pays special focus towards development of strategy and then keeps on updating and removing the unwanted elements. The generic form of an internet marketing strategy can be in the following three steps:

Firstly, in a running strategy, a webmaster needs to stop the elements that are not working anymore, and bring change to be successful.

Secondly, a webmaster needs to identify the processes, which can be initiated to gain maximum benefits.

Thirdly, a webmaster needs to identify the processes that are giving maximum benefits and how they can be continued to gain optimum outcomes.

These three steps of an online marketing strategy can be effectively applied to social media and sharing of content.

1. Cease:

Search engines have become far smarter then what they used to be in earlier days. Now Google and all other search engines make it hard to publish content for PR and Marketing professionals. The things that need to be stopped in a social media and content publishing strategy are:

Don’t use the press release distribution platforms anymore. Now these platforms are no more effective, and there are very minimal chances that these platforms would make your content appear on various sources in search results.

The second thing you need to stop is the duplicate content. With Panda Update, it has become very difficult for duplicate content to appear in search results.

2. Initiate:

Besides the orthodox ways of promoting website and its content on internet, the new and for long to stay way is the use of social media. Every online marketing strategy needs to have social media as a crucial component of the campaign.

Search is more social than ever, with platforms like Google+, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter becoming a household item of users, there is no denying that they would suddenly disappear from online world. Rather they are here to stay, and would impact online marketing a great deal.

With Google+ and Panda Update, Google has made it evident that the content that is shareable on social media would be the content that succeeds. Therefore, social media marketing should be made an integral part of the online promotion campaign.

3. Continuation:

Everything that has been working for you till now you need to keep it up and bring more innovation to it. For the time being the things you need to continue are:

Inforgraphics

Images

Videos
